Custom Jewelry is a dying industry. When I began making jewelry in the 1970's there were thousands of designer/jewelry makers from coast to coast, called "Custom Jewelers', today I can hardly find one. These Custom Jewelers specialized in creating unique jewelry designs to fit customer's specific needs and desires. It takes more than just a general knowledge of jewelry design and craftsmanship to be a Custom jeweler. You must also be a gemologist and have a very comprehensive understanding of techniques and methods of jewelry making from all around the world as well as throughout history. A Custom Jeweler has to be prepared for anything that comes across his bench. You never know what a customer will want, it could be silver, platinum, gold, copper, bronze, or titanium. You may be working with diamonds or turquoise, you never know and it is always a challenge. There might be an heirloom that was created hundreds of years ago that a customer wants to duplicate some part of in their new design. You have to be ready for anything and knowledgeable enough to provide a professional result. Greg Neeley has been making custom jewelry for 40 years. "I have run across everything you can imagine in my career and still every day I get something new to challenge me." If you are looking for a Custom Jeweler, you can't go wrong with Greg Neeley. His attention to your special requests is unmatched in the jewelry world.

"I focus on modern design but when working on a custom design, I am focused mostly on the customers taste. A custom jeweler will create a piece specifically for you and attempt to blend his or her design into a list of preferences you express. Call me or email me for an interview and I will design a custom piece of jewelry just for you. I work in a wide range of styles and have always tried to be innovative and fresh in everything I design. I do focus on modern but you may be surprised how varied "modern design:" can be."
"Here are some examples of modern design that I sketched in the late 1970's. Notice how futuristic they still look. There is definitely some 20th century feel to the design, but the overall look is still quite futuristic. Modern does not have to be minimalist, or too plain, but it is in my mind very clean. Of course there is the modern art that is very crude and rough, like torn pieces of material patched together into a balance of texture and form that you see at museums and art galleries, I focus on clean and smooth."
